Judy Drive
A kitchen renovation paired with a new dining room and deck addition that opens this Redondo Beach home to indoor-outdoor living.
On Judy Drive in Redondo Beach, we set out to give a tight, closed-off home the generous, light-filled core it had always lacked. The project brought together three moves under one roof: a full kitchen renovation, a new dining room built onto the existing footprint, and a deck addition that extends the living space outdoors. We began by reworking the floor plan itself, opening up the layout so the kitchen, dining area, and exterior flow together as one continuous space.
The reimagined kitchen anchors the home, reorganized for better function and a cleaner, more contemporary feel. From there, the new dining room steps the living space outward, and a purpose-built deck carries it the rest of the way into the yard, turning what had been a hard interior edge into a relaxed threshold between inside and out.
The result is a home that lives far larger than its original plan suggested. Where the family once had a compartmentalized kitchen and no real place to gather, they now have an open, sunlit heart to the house and an outdoor room that makes the most of the South Bay climate, a renovation and addition that reads as if it had always been part of the home.
